Edges Were Crying, Now They’re Thriving: My 12-Week Comeback

At the end of May, I had a little check-in with myself and realized I wasn’t taking care of my hair the way I should. I always wear protective styles—mostly braids or faux locs—and I'm always pulling my hair back or up. My edges have definitely suffered, lol. On top of that, life was lifing and I was neglecting my routine. Dryness and breakage started creeping in, and my edges were crying for help.
That’s when Kathy put me on to Gofinity. She’s an ambassador for the brand and even got me started with a starter pack. And just to be clear—this blog isn’t a sales pitch! It’s me sharing my real edge growth journey, plus a few tips I picked up along the way that might help you too.
Day 0
Edges crying 😭 This was my starting point.
My Experience with Gofinity
I started using the Beautonic powder and the Scalp Stimulating Elixir at the same time. And within 2 days I noticed a difference. Swear! You can call me delusional, but my strands legit felt stronger and thicker one by one. Then my edges started feeling and looking a little fuller.
I took the scalp elixir consistently for about a week and a half, then on and off when I remembered. The Beautonic powder? I was consistent for 3 days straight, then more hit-or-miss after that. Even with me not being perfect, I still saw progress, and that honestly surprised me. By week 2–3, my strands were stronger and my edges didn’t look as fragile anymore.
Day 5
By day 5, my strands felt thicker and my edges weren’t looking so fragile.
Tips & Lessons I Learned Along the Way
Here’s what really stood out to me over the past 6 weeks:
Your Diet and Movement Matter
Drinking the Beautonic subconsciously made me eat better. The powder is sweet, so I’d add it to my water or smoothies, though sometimes it made my smoothies too sweet for me (I’m a citrus/sour girly, the more the the better). But even so, I craved more fruit, drank more water, cut down on bad habits, and my energy shifted. That extra energy kept me consistent with scalp care because:
I was in a better mood
My body was finally getting nutrients it needed
Double Layer the Moisture
One gem my hair absolutely loved: grease your edges first, then layer the scalp elixir on top. Massage it in with gentle circles. I usually make my own butter at home, but if DIY isn’t your thing, Kstar Essentials has a great natural grease that’s light but effective. This combo locked in so much moisture—especially in the dry summer heat. And when I topped it off with a silky scarf at night? 😘🤌🏾. My edges were truly grateful.
Day 7
Day 7: Grease & Scalp Elixir before bed
Collagen is That Girl
Whether it’s Gofinity or just a drugstore vitamin, collagen really does its thing. Not only was my hair thriving, but my nails were stronger, my skin looked healthier, and even old scars were healing faster. It reminded me that the small, consistent things you put into your body have a way of showing up everywhere.
Day 12
Around week 2, empty gaps started to noticeably fill in
Reflections After 1 month
About a month in, here’s where I left off: I still had some scalp elixir left, but life started lifing again so I used it on and off. Even so, my edges were looking healthy and I still had a few Beautonic packets left. By then, my edges were noticeably fuller and my strands were thicker. I wasn’t at my final hair goals yet, but this progress gave me the motivation to keep going.
Day 17
Close to 3 weeks, edges looking alive again 🙌🏾✨ Still a journey, but real progress.
Current Day
Fast forward to now—12 weeks and 3 days later—my edges are BACK!!!!! Wooooo 😭🙌🏾
Day 87
12 weeks and 3 days, we backkkkk
Final Thoughts
In all transparency, I wasn’t sure what to expect lol. I thought maybe my edges would grow a little bit but not completely come back and I’m glad that wasn’t the case. BUT, this wasn’t just a miracle cure. It was consistency, better habits, and a little boost from Gofinity. And that’s the real takeaway: your edges can bounce back, but it takes patience, care, and attention both inside and out.
If you’re on an edge regrowth journey, I’d love to hear from you:
What’s worked for you?
Do you have protective style routines that keep your edges safe?
Have you tried Gofinity or anything similar? What was your experience?
Until next time😊
